Today poem.

Today is a coca-cola day,
a fizzy, Pop! Pop! Pop! Soda sippin’ shine day,
an empty bottle turned water weapon,
a water weapon turned for thirst quenchin’,
ice cream dreams drip down the dog day lips,
yummm!
finger-licking sounds as the truck sings its sweets and then banana-splits!

Slip and Slide in the Slurpee Sun!
a golden girl splashes sun-block on her bronze boy’s back, writing secret messages for that Slurpee Sun to
Sting!

And bare feet sizzle on cement stovetops,
Just like the sunny-side up eggs that bubble and
Pop!
Water Balloon Bombs!
“Take Cover! To the Fort! The Fort!”
“Don’t Run! You’ll slip and break your neck!”

Fading to a memory, to the dawn of an old day,
To an empty bottle turned tourist trashed beach,
To an empty beach’s gleam, crowded in a smiling shack with
Summer Sweat,
Dripping down in beaded bracelets
wrapping ‘round wrists
tugging on sleaves
Prodding, Poking, Pointing
at the metal mouth,
Fingers in the mouth!
Feeling, figuring out the foreign face;

“Hallo! Hallo! Hi!”
Laughs and laughs and piggybacks!
Little loves attack! Attack! Tickle Attack!
Laughs and laughs, catching breathes,
“Ha!Ha!”
Laughs and concerns, waiting their turn for a
grateful gulp;

Bare feet dance on a dirt floor,
Singing songs for what their thankful for,
A concerned look on a caring face,
A selfless mom, wipes away the paint
from a volunteers sticky face,
a lick on her thumb,
a rub on his chin,
a coca-cola war, is it forgotten?

“Run Faster! Run Faster! From these Capitalist Bastards!”
